Seeking a Released Minister
Our Process and Next Steps:
Why We Are Hiring a Released Minister
West Hills Friends Meeting (WHF) is seeking a full-time Released Minister to support the spiritual life and ministries of our Meeting.
As Quakers, we believe that we are all ministers and share responsibility for the spiritual life of the Meeting. At the same time, we recognize the value of โreleasingโ a person from other employment so they can devote their time and energy to supporting the spiritual health, coordination, and pastoral care of the Meeting.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for someone to run the Meeting or make decisions for us. Instead, we seek someone who can help guide and support the spiritual and community life of the Meeting in partnership with Elders and the congregation.
We are looking for an individual who:
Is strongly committed to Quaker process and practice
Has prior experience as a Released Minister or Pastor
Prioritizes following Godโs leading in their life
Is a great listener and skilled at guiding difficult conversations
Can help our Meeting regularly reflect on our attitudes, behaviors, and structures
Works collaboratively with Elders, committees, staff, and the wider Quaker community
Is attentive to including both in-person and online participants
West Hills Friends Meeting is a semi-programmed, Christ-centered Quaker meeting in Southwest Portland and a member of Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends (SCYMF). We are a welcoming congregation and expect all candidates to be supportive of LGBTQ+ individuals.
